A Port of Subs Philosophy

Our franchise agreements are offered by invitation only. So, we carefully review and select the right location and approve only the most qualified franchisees to give everyone the best chance for success. 

We allow you the opportunity to get to know us. Our Preview Pass is a Port of Subs exclusive that lets you experience the sandwich business for a day. 


The Invitation

We invite you to take the next steps towards owning your own business. Our franchise approvals system is simple. It is a 4 step process that makes the investment decision easier.

1. Apply and Investigate - Receive the FDD
2. Seminar - Attend an Ownership Seminar or Personal Meeting
3. Preview Day - Spend a day at a Port of Subs restaurant and participate in the operations of the business.
4. Invitation to Ownership - If you are qualified, and we see a potential match, we will send you a personal invitation to attend a New Franchisee Orientation at Corporate Headquarters.

At New Franchisee Orientation, in Reno, Nevada, you will get the chance to meet Corporate Staff and complete your review of the restaurant development process (real estate, construction, training, opening, advertising/marketing, and support). At the conclusion of New Franchisee Orientation, you will be granted a franchise agreement where you will select a defined real estate search area, or site, and pay your franchise fee. Congratulations!  You are on your way to opening the next Port of Subs restaurant!

Get started with 4 easy steps...


Development Options

Develop one store at a time. You secure the exclusive site, trade area, or target search area available for site analysis and selection. When you sign your lease, typically you will receive a 1 mile radius protection (1/4 mile in extremely densely populated trade areas such as a Central Business District).

• Single Unit
One store at a time. You still select the exclusive site with 1 mile radius protection, or identify your targeted trade area for site selection.

• Multi-Unit
2-3 unit plan. Knowing you want more than 1 unit, you plan for multiple stores in your area. You select several exclusive trade areas, or sites, and stake your claim to build your chain of Port of Subs.

• Area Development
Reserved for the very best operational candidates with extensive capital reserve. We specify an exclusive geographic region (large or small) for site selection and analysis. These defined areas are located in new territory, where Port of Subs is yet to be discovered. Your plan will include at least 3 units and require that you meet certain opening timeframes. Finally, you will receive extra marketing incentives to develop new areas (30 miles from an existing Port of Subs).
