Step 2: Franchise Application
After submitting your request in Step 1 you will receive a welcome email and we will set up our first call. After the call we will send you a link to our electronic franchise application.
Step 3: Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD)
Upon financial qualification, we will schedule a face-to-face meeting to provide you with a Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD). The content contained in the FDD will help you make an informed business decision regarding the purchase of a Port of Subs® franchise. While you take time to review the FDD, we encourage you to talk to current franchisees and ask questions about the business, as well as consult with your attorney and/or accountant as you finalize your decision.
Step 4: Discovery Day
Attend a Discovery Day at the Port of Subs® Corporate Headquarters in Reno, Nevada. You will spend a portion of the day at a Port of Subs® restaurant, where you will observe the operation of the restaurant alongside the manager and staff. You will spend the remainder of the day at our Corporate Headquarters getting to know the team. You will also have the opportunity to join some of our executive team for dinner, where you can learn more about why the Port of Subs® system has achieved success for more than forty years.
Step 5: Franchise Agreement
Review and sign the Port of Subs® Franchise Agreement, and you are officially a Port of Subs® franchisee!
Step 6: Find the Perfect Site
Working with you, Port of Subs® will help select a great location among many trade areas available in the Western states. Existing trade areas are in Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Step 7: Prepare to Open Your Restaurant
Working with the landlord, you will execute a lease for your Port of Subs® restaurant. The Corporate Design and Construction Team assist in pre-construction restaurant layouts and will work hand-in-hand with you throughout the project. Architects and contractors help you submit the plans, obtain the permits and construct the restaurant.
Two people per restaurant are required to successfully complete the Port of Subs®’ training in a Certified Training Restaurant. One person will spend four weeks of training in the restaurant and at the Port of Subs® Corporate Office in Reno, Nevada. The second person will spend two weeks of training in the restaurant.
Step 8: Open Your Restaurant
Welcome to the Port of Subs® family – let the excitement begin! Dedicated, hands-on, local Franchise Field Consultants and Field Marketing Consultants offer up to 10 days opening support. Your Field Marketing Consultant assists in executing a marketing campaign for your restaurant launch and in developing a customized Local Restaurant Marketing strategy to help drive traffic and revenue through catering, loyalty and special event programs.
Operational assistance doesn’t end with your restaurant opening…we help you every step of the way! After you open your new restaurant, Port of Subs® dedicates a Franchise Field Consultant and Field Marketing Consultant to visit your restaurant on a regular basis to provide operational and marketing guidance.
